theology. As one of his parishioners says, “Father Bill” could have done
anything with his life. But he chose to serve God. And he chose to come to

Fear of township dog prompts county ordinance

One person has carried an ax handle for protection. Another
stows a gun in his garage.

Their neighborhood of lakeshore homes off Townline Avenue may appear idyllic, but residents say they have lived for years in fear of a neighborhood dog with a history of attacking other animals, chasing children and biting passersby.

Historic Buch House still needs savior

Local history buffs thought they might have a new owner for an
endangered house on Fourth Avenue when Habitat for Humanity decided to take a
look.

Shakopee’s Historical Preservation Advisory Commission has been
looking for a buyer for the 133-year-old house, which will be demolished by
Scott County unless someone takes the two-story brick home, which is referred
to as the Buch House.

83 Horses Pre-Entered To Claiming Crown


Pre-entries for the 10th annual Claming Crown, which will be held on
Aug. 2, were taken on Wednesday. Eighty-three horses have been pre-entered for
the event known as thoroughbred racing’s day for “blue collar” racehorses. The
Claiming Crown consists of seven races, five on dirt and two on turf, with
purses totaling $600,000.

Coyotes fall in playoff opener


The Shakopee Coyotes opened the Dakota-Rice-Scott playoffs with a 2-0 loss to Lonsdale on Wednesday, July 23.

Lonsdale's Brian Vosejpka threw a complete game one-hitter.

Shakopee and Lonsdale play again on Friday, July 25 at 8 p.m. at Joe Schleper Stadium. The Coyotes must win to avoid being eliminated from the playoffs.

Indians fall to Jordan in playoffs


The Jordan Brewers defeated the Shakopee Indians 8-7 on Wednesday night in the Section 3B playoffs. Shakopee is currently 1-1 in the playoffs.

Jordan is the top seed in their pool with Shakopee and Prior Lake. Chaska, Green Isle and Victoria are in the other pool

Each pool will play a double round robin tournament against each other.
